The One Acre Hope Project

Partnering with a Local Farmer. Planting Seeds of Hope.

In the wake of the devastating flooding caused by Hurricane Helene, our church family at Elk Park Christian Church felt compelled to act—not for recognition, but out of love for one of our own.

A local farmer—well-known in our community and deeply loved—lost nearly everything. Out of the 8 acres he normally farms along the Elk River, only 1 acre remains usable. The rest were buried under rocks and debris, and most of his equipment was swept away by the flood. He is facing a loss of more than $20,000—income he depends on to survive.

He didn’t ask for help. In fact, as he stood with us at our church’s community garden one Saturday morning, enjoying free biscuits and coffee, he humbly said:
“God will provide. He always has. I don’t know how He will, but He will.”

That moment stirred something deep in us. And so The One Acre Hope Project was born.

What We’re Doing

We’ve committed to:

  • Cover all the costs for planting 1 acre of potatoes (seed, fertilizer, fuel, etc.)

  • Pay the farmer what he would have earned from a full acre

  • Donate the entire harvest back to the community to help families in need

It’s not just about a crop. It’s about compassion, resilience, and helping a man who’s given so much to this land rebuild what was lost.

How You Can Help

We’ve created a special giving fund to support this effort. Every donation goes directly toward this project and helping this farmer get back on his feet.
